My Experience with Google Directions

Whenever I go online, I always hear such term as Google directions everytime I open the main site. I usually ignore it because I don't really know where to use it. Furthermore, I don't even need it on those times. It was only when my internet savvy brought up to me what Google directions is when I got the hang of it.

ain place or restaurant was made more easy because of this program. Just looking at the word alone, I already knew what Google directions is all about and it is exactly what it literally means.

My first experience with Google directions was good and if only I was able to discover what it is before, maybe, taking my huge map every time I go around the city was of no need at all. From that moment on, I began telling my friends about it. I'm very thankful to Google directions because everything went good. From now on, I have one more thing to make myself busy with, and that is exploring more about it.

I was tasked by my client to a make a 350 word count article on the world's seven wonders as my additional output. She gave me until the afternoon of that day to write it but then I can sense I am going to run out of time.

I got a thought of what to write however I'm in doubt on where to start.

At first I've made a draft with many of mistakes, also a little bit on grammar and sentence order. To make it kinda easy for me, I have written first all the words in Filipino then I encoded the whole draft in the Google translate. To tell you the truth, I really had a second thought because I got no clue on the accuracy of Google translate. I've found out a lot from my colleagues that this Google translate is really very helpful though it does not give an accurate result because often, the translation is word by word and not by context.

An hour before the day was finally over, was done writing the article. I created the final project with images and captions. What ate up most of my time was actually the research that I did since I don't have ,at first, the right information on the topic, but still, I was able to create it close to perfect.

Rigorously I went on analyzing them after I have them all rolled over. I did not able to concentrate in my initial viewing since I ended upwas just laughing with my classmates. I took my pencil and paper with me and finally went on with it.

Filipino Kids Playing Games

I miss the days when I was still a kid. A kid who doesn't worry about things and what was just important was playing outside. The Lucky Me Pancit Canton Commercial, where kids happily play together, makes me jealous of those Filipino kids. Although I am happy with my adult life. I can't help but think it is best to have the innocent mind of a kid, and the joy playing brings to him.

When I was young, I usually played Freaky Dam, however it is played, and of course Patintero. I didn't learn how to play Patintero though, but I was good at Luksong Tinink. Sadly, only few Filipino children play these games nowadays. I noticed that most kids in my neighborhood are in internet cafes playing computer games.

Google Translates' Philippine National Anthem

Lately, I am fond of using Google Translate, or a Google translator for foreign languages. It is free anyway. Then just a few minutes ago, I just figured a good idea. How will the tool translate Philippines' national anthem. So, I checked it.

I went to the homepage of Google Translate and pasted there the lyrics of the song. I thought it would somehow yield a better translation since it is part of Philippine history, an important song for Filipinos. Anyway, I was disappointed with Google Translate. It is a poor translation of the song. I guess the reason is, the song used a lot of Filipino words that are not commonly used nowadays.

Remove Google Search Box and Web History

Are you one of those people who love the functionality of Google Search but don't like the idea that your surfing is tracked by Google? Well, that will only be recorded if you are logged in to your Google account. If so, the only thing that you can do is to remove your Google web history. Removing it is easy, all you have to do is log in to Google Web History and look at the left column, you will find there the option to remove some or all of the websites you visited and searches you have conducted.

Another thing that might be annoying to some people who have downloaded and installed Firefox is that it comes with Google as the default search engine in the search box at the right column of the browser. Few people notice that they can actually change the search engine to something else, or remove google search box in firefox.

Have you ever encountered in chat, a friend or your chat mate sent you a message you don't understand? Well, in most cases, you know the person you are talking to speaks a different language but just happened to throw out a message to you in his language that you don't understand.

Sometimes, messages like this might be his secret message to you, that you have to decipher. It might be a message he wishes that he could tell, but he has no courage to tell you. It can also a message that he just sent you randomly to make fun of you. But either of the two, you are curious to know.

So, what do you do now?

First, identify what language the message was written. The best choice is the native language the person you are chatting with. If not, the second language he uses. The most difficult part, is if it not his first or second language, but just a random language he has chosen. If you have no idea what language it is, just make an intelligent guess.

Anyway, after you know the language, copy the message of your friend or chat mate and go to http://translate.google.com/translate_t#. Choose the language you think the message was written, and translate it to a language you understand, say English. Then hit the Translate button. The translation will appear on the right column.

Don't rely too much on the results, just get an idea of what your friend wanted to say. Not all the time the results will be accurate. There are instances that Google Translate will give you poor translations especially if you are pasting long paragraphs.

The tool can do translations between any of the 34 languages above. Other free online translation tools only support up to 12 languages.

Again, the accuracy of this machine translator might still be in question, but Google is doing their best to improve this free translation tool. Such tool is valuable still though especially if you are chatting to someone who lives in a different country, and has a native language you don't understand.
